Exciting news for Android enthusiasts! Google has published the first developer preview of Android 15, giving developers an exclusive glimpse into the future of their mobile operating system, Android Central reported. There are few details about consumer features, but it’s clear from this preview that Google cares about privacy and security. The tech giant is doubling down on user privacy by introducing the latest version of its Privacy Sandbox, which aims to enhance privacy and refine the personalized ad experience for its mobile apps.
Additionally, Google is giving creators new tools to unleash their creativity on Android. Enhancements to camera capabilities are on the horizon with new enhancements that give you more control over camera hardware and algorithms. All this enables enhanced low-light performance along with advanced flash settings, promising clearer and more vibrant photos than ever before.
What’s more, it looks like Google’s ambitions for Android 15 don’t end there. The company has also fine-tuned its operating system to take advantage of hardware features such as powerful GPUs and AI processing to ensure a high-quality app experience for users. Updates to the Android Dynamic Performance Framework allow developers to optimize thermal, CPU, and GPU tasks, making app performance smoother and more efficient.
Android 15 also introduces the Health Connect extension, which supports new data types in fitness and nutrition, mirroring features introduced in Android 14. Additionally, users can now enjoy partial screen sharing. This is a feature first introduced in Android 14 QPR2 that allows you to share or record. A specific app window instead of the entire screen.
To try out the Android 15 Developer Preview, developers can flash a system image to compatible devices such as Pixel 6, Pixel 7, Pixel 8 series, Pixel Fold, and Pixel Tablet. Alternatively, developers can utilize 64-bit system images using Android Studio’s Android emulator.
