Apple iPhone users are being warned to check their phones for fake apps designed to look like the real thing.
Although the dangerous app has been removed from the App Store, Apple is urging customers to check if they still have the app installed on their phones.
The app in question attempted to copy a legitimate app called LastPass, a password safety and encryption site.

This fake app goes by a similar but incorrect name: LassPass. This is an obvious attempt by the developer to trick unsuspecting customers into downloading the app.
“LastPass would like to warn our customers about fraudulent apps attempting to impersonate our LastPass apps on the Apple App Store,” the (legitimate) company said.
“This app attempts to copy our branding and user interface, but a closer look at the screenshots posted reveals misspellings and other indicators that the app is a scam.
“We are alerting our customers to this matter to avoid confusion and possible loss of personal data.
“Rest assured, LastPass is actively working to remove this application as soon as possible and will continue to monitor for unauthorized clones of our application and infringement of our intellectual property.”
People who have downloaded the fake app will be prompted to remove it and update any passwords they may have shared with the app.
Apple has since removed the app from its store.
