Purchasing a ready-made kit makes it much easier to replace your iPhone battery yourself. In most cases, you will need the same general tools and steps outlined in this guide. Also, if you get stuck, we recommend watching a video or two as it will help you see how everything is done.
First, power off your phone and remove the P2 pentalobe screw from the bottom of the phone using a special screwdriver. These are on either side of the charging port. Once the screws are removed, use a heating pad or hair dryer to apply heat to the entire bottom of the phone to soften and loosen the adhesive.
Then use the suction cup to create a cap between the phone screen and the phone case. Once you see the gap, slide the pry tool within 2 millimeters. Using the same process of warming up the phone, rotate the pry tool along the left side and then along the right side. Gently slide it along the top of the phone, starting with the top part last. The display will still be connected by a cable, but you should be able to open it to the right.
To completely remove the cover and gain unrestricted access to the phone’s internal workings, you will need to remove the battery cover, disconnect the battery connector, and then unscrew and disconnect the battery sensor cover. Disconnecting these cables will raise the display.
