This is the penultimate day of competition for the 2024 Doha World Championships, with five more events on the morning schedule.
The women’s 50 free will be the start of things. sarah sjostrom The Swedish player is the top seeded contestant. She achieved a silver medal performance at the 2022 World Championships in Budapest, but she fell to 12th place in Fukuoka.

Peter Coetzee (RSA) and Isaac Cooper (Australia) are the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds, and Cooper has already recorded his best time in the 50 fly earlier in the tournament. The Australian record holder is a solid medal threat in this event, but missed out on making the final at last year’s Fukuoka Games. He seemed to struggle with the free 50/back double 50 there, and assuming he advances to the semifinals, he will face the same obstacle tonight.

She finished 17th in the 100m chest (1:07.79) earlier in the competition, missing out on a spot in the semifinals. She also ran a time of 1:07.29 in the Lithuanian qualifying 4×100 mixed medley relay, both swims significantly better than her personal best time of 1:04.35. She won the 100 breast world title last year in 1:04.62 and also broke her 50th world record (29.16) en route to her gold medal.
Although Meilutyte doesn’t seem to be in top form, he is known for being able to hit fast 50s in any season. Admittedly, she is known as a pretty tapered swimmer in her 100m distance, but even so, at the World Cup in October she clocked 29.56 seconds, which is still her best 100m time. It was just a few seconds short. If she can match her October performance, there could be a clear path to defending her world title.
Chinese Tozentei, who won the 100 breaststroke on the second night, could be a big threat to Meiltite’s title defense. Tan, who is the sixth seed in this tournament and holds the Asian record of 29.92 seconds, showed considerable speed in the early 100 meters of the competition.
