The Gift Horse in Providence and Sly Fox Den in Charlestown were named to USA TODAY’s list of America’s Best Restaurants.
The USA TODAY Restaurants of the Year 2024 list, released today, features 47 restaurants ranging from fine dining to counter-service seafood shacks. Gift Horse was chosen for its modern take on local seafood, while Sly Fox Den Too was chosen for its quality food and deep connection to its location.
It’s clear that Gift Horse is intended as a social environment, as the U-shaped bar is a key architectural feature. Guests can enjoy the live bar, lively kitchen and watch the bartenders create their drinks. Chef and owner Benjamin Shukur’s new restaurant has a clean, modern look that pairs perfectly with Chef Sky Haneul Kim’s creative menu.
“We are very happy to receive this recognition from USA TODAY!” said Shukur.
Sly Fox Den Too’s unpretentious menu showcases indigenous cuisine rooted in the forests and waterways of the Northeast, a testament to the region’s remaining tribes.

“It makes a statement that we’re still here,” said James Beard Award-winning chef and owner Sherry Pocket. “We still live our way. We still eat traditional foods. We still hunt and fish.”
USA TODAY Network’s food journalists from across the country combined their expertise to create the list. That list includes places they know, love, and recommend.
