TL;DR
- Android 15 introduces a feature called “Notification Cooldown.”
- This new feature gradually reduces the volume of consecutive notifications from the same app.
- There are three notification cooldown options: Cool down all notifications, Cool down conversations, and Never use.
Today is the day Google announced the first developer preview of Android 15. While this update doesn’t bring a ton of new features to Android, it does introduce features that some people may find very useful.
If you’ve been playing around with Android 15 DP1, you may have come across the “notification cooldown”. According to the description, it is a function that gradually lowers the volume of consecutive notifications from the same app. Simply put, it’s designed to prevent you from feeling like you’re being flooded when you suddenly receive a ton of notifications at the same time.
To find this feature,[設定]Move to[通知]Tap. Scroll to the bottom and you’ll see the notification cooldown option. When you tap Settings, you’ll see three options:
- Apply cooldown to all notifications
- Apply a cooldown to conversations
- Don’t use notification cooldown
If you receive a lot of emails during the day, get added to an overly active group text, or get a lot of engagement on social media, you’ll find this setting extremely useful.
In addition to this feature, Android introduces improved privacy measures, better gaming tools, partial screen recording, and more.
