CIRP today released a new study examining the number of people in the United States who purchase a new iPhone from an Android smartphone. After reaching his five-year peak last spring, the number of users switching from Android to iPhone has declined slightly. Here are the latest details:
CIRP data from last May showed Apple’s momentum, with a record 15% of new iPhone buyers in the US coming from Android and an average selling price of just under $1,000.
However, earlier this year, a new report from CIRP showed a slight reversal in trends through 2023.
Android users switching to iPhone down from 5-year high
As shown below, 13% of new iPhone buyers in the US report switching from Android. This is a 2% decrease from what CIRP saw last year.
However, this is still 2% higher than the numbers the company observed for Android switchers in 2020 and 2021, and is consistent with 2019 data.
As mentioned above, the data covers switchers for each calendar year. It will be interesting to see if Android devices regain ground against the iPhone in 2024.
In particular, the Samsung S24 series has been very well received since its launch in January 2024, earning higher customer satisfaction scores than the iPhone 15 and 15 Pro.
