GSC Hosts 2nd Annual “A Heart for Gordon” Gala | Lifestyle

On Saturday, February 3, Gordon State University held its annual “A Heart for Gordon” gala at the Burnsville Campus Student Activities and Recreation Center, with 380 attendees from the 14 counties in GSC’s primary service area and multiple counties beyond. More than one person attended.

The optional black tie event begins with a cocktail hour and welcome from Dr. Wayne Kong, GSC Foundation Board Member and Events and Recognition Committee Chair, followed by dinner, meritorious recognition, a silent auction, and group performances. I was disappointed. Upson Line dancers from the Thomaston Upson Civic Center performed their dances and the night ended with music from Lady Creech and her MainStreet Band.

The primary purpose of this celebration is to further GSC’s mission by ensuring that students receive the financial support they need to successfully complete their degrees and become successful contributors to their communities. The aim was to raise funds for the development of the economy and, in turn, to strengthen economic development.

“It was an amazing night where so many people had the power to change the lives and family trees of Gordon and our entire community. I believe people will support the vision, if only once if necessary, but for life.” ” said Dr. Donald J. Green, GSC Chairman. “We have students from all walks of life, and local businesses need talent. Current and future students, families, and our community will be forever changed by this generosity.”

Individuals who have been instrumental in the success of the Society’s annual gala include the Events and Recognition Committee, which is comprised of members of the GSC Foundation Board of Directors; The event was hosted by Dr. Kong and Kenny Coggins.

Coggins is a lifelong resident of Thomaston, a graduate of Gordon College, and a member of the GSC Foundation Board of Directors.

“Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the Heart for Gordon Gala. Ensuring our students receive an excellent education is a top priority for GSC. Other financial support is critical to our mission,” said Natalie Rischbieter, GSC Executive Director of Advancement and GSC Foundation.

“Your support has a direct and meaningful impact on the lives of our students, their families, and our communities. Thank you!” she added. “Please be sure to mark February 1, 2025 on your calendar so that we can once again join you for the next Heart of Gordon Gala.”

Silent auction sponsors include Grits Café, Smith Farm Supply, Upson Regional Medical Center, Kathryn and Josh Green, Tidal Wave Auto Spa, Georgia Power, Bob Harris, Teresa Betkowski, Dr. Joanne Ardovini, Becky Dollen, A Novel Experience, David Culverhouse was included. , Southern Rivers Energy, Coggins, Dr. Julie Little, Raintree Golf Course, Queen Bee Coffee, Green Island Country Club, Callaway Gardens, Big Red Oak Plantation, Village… At Indian Springs, Evergreen Propane, Old Hudson Plantation.

“A Heart for Gordon Gala” was sponsored by Upson Regional Medical Center. Gold sponsors included Piedmont Henry, United Bank, and Wellstar Health System.

Recipients of the 2024 Heart for Gordon Gala Lifetime Achievement Award include alumnus Kelly Hughes of Lamar County, Mayor of Burnsville; Pike County graduate Erin Ison, URMC clinical placement coordinator; Don Neuner of Fayette County, GSC Foundation Board Member, Gordon Military High School Class of 1970; Spalding County graduate Rebecca Crane, URMC perinatal director; Mr. Dodgen, of Upson County, is a former employee of GSC who served in various roles for more than 20 years.
