Google is introducing a new feature to Android smartphones called Android Safe Browsing. This feature is designed to alert you to harmful links and websites within supported apps.

Android tipster discovered Mishal Rahman (Below), a new Safe Browsing page appears on some Android smartphones, hinting at which apps support the feature and how it can keep you safe from things like phishing and malware.

According to Google, if you tap a link in a trusted news app that links to a known phishing site, you may receive a warning. This notification lets you know about the risks before you open the link, so you can decide if the link is legitimate.

The feature also includes “Live Threat Protection,” which Google claims provides “more accurate threat detection.” It is unclear if this is enabled by default or if the user needs to enable it.
