Imlay city — Students at Weston Elementary School recently enjoyed Math and Science Day. Students discovered how fun and crazy science experiments can be made using simple household items on Jan. 21 during a science assembly introduced by Imlay City teacher Doug Scheer, starting with a quirky hands-on experiment.

For the rest of the day, students participated in other hands-on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) lessons throughout the building. Students used materials such as marble runs, Lincoln logs, blocks, and magnet shapes to build courses and test chain reactions. The teacher also had students participate in a variety of her STEM experiments in the classroom to observe chemical reactions, cause and effect, and probability, inspiring a love of math and science in children of all grades.

Weston Elementary School would like to continue the tradition of hosting a math and science day each year to inspire a love of exploration and learning in these areas.
