TL;DR
- There’s nothing announced that the next Phone 2a won’t be widely available in the US.
- This phone is available only as part of a developer program in the country.
Nothing has revealed the release date for its next Nothing Phone 2a in early March. Unfortunately, it’s bad news for those who were hoping for a more affordable Nothing Phone in the US.
The company confirmed in an emailed press release that the Nothing Phone 2a is not expected to be widely available in the United States.
“In the U.S., Phone (2a) will only be accessible to developers through Nothing’s US Developer Program,” the brand explained. Developers who obtain a phone through this program will be “encouraged” to submit feedback on his recently announced Glyph Developer Kit.
In other words, the phone will not be available to general consumers in the United States.
This isn’t the first time Nothing has offered a limited release domestically. Nothing Phone 1 was released in the US early last year as part of a paid beta program. However, because anyone could buy the Phone 1, this beta program was also more accessible than the Phone 2a’s developer program.
In any case, tipster Yogesh Brar also Posted Today’s Nothing Phone 2a spec list mostly confirms previous leaks. Expect a Dimensity 7200-Ultra chipset, 6.7-inch 120Hz OLED screen (FHD+), dual 50MP rear cameras, and 45W wired charging. The phone is also believed to be priced at 30,000 rupees (approximately $360) in India.
