Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti described Vinicius Junior as “the best in the world” after his performance in the team’s four-goal win over Girona.
Vinicius Junior scored Ancelotti’s side’s first goal and assisted Jude Bellingham and Rodrigo Goes as Madrid ran out an easy winner in La Liga on Saturday night.
Bellingham scored twice to extend Madrid’s lead over Girona at the top of the league to five points, but it was Vinicius who received special praise from the manager after the match.
Asked about Vinicius Junior’s performance, Ancelotti said: “He is the best in the world.”
The Madrid manager was then asked who is the best player in the world other than the Brazilian. Ancelotti replied: “Bellingham, Rodrigo III, Valverde, Camavinga, Kroos.”
Ancelotti was then asked about Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappé, who has long been linked with a move to Madrid. Manager Ancelotti responded, “The player you nominated is from another team.” “I have the best one.”
The four-goal victory over second-placed Girona was arguably Madrid’s best performance and result of the season, but there were concerns when Bellingham was forced off injured in the 57th minute.
Manager Ancelotti said of the match, “It was very complete in every aspect.” “We managed possession and transition. The (injury) emergency made us more focused defensively.
“Bellingham sprained his ankle. He will be tested tomorrow, but we hope to be back on Tuesday.”
Madrid are back in action for the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie against RB Leipzig.
