Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max is one of the top contenders for a premium smartphone. It offers Apple’s latest and greatest features, including the new A17 Pro chip, amazing camera system, lightweight titanium body, action button, and USB-C charging. It’s a great package.

But there’s no doubt about it. The iPhone 15 Pro Max is also very expensive, with a starting price of his $1,200. Also, if you want the best smartphone on the market, this is not the only option, especially if he is not particularly invested in the Apple ecosystem.

Before you buy the iPhone 15 Pro Max, here are five other phones you should consider buying instead.

samsung galaxy s24 ultra

The most obvious alternative to Apple’s top-of-the-line iPhone is Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra.

With the S24 Ultra, you get an even bigger 6.8-inch LTPO AMOLED 2X display with all the specs you can imagine. It has a dynamic refresh rate ranging from 1 Hz to 120 Hz, supports HDR10+, 1440 x 3120 pixel resolution, 505 pixels per inch (ppi), and reaches a maximum brightness of 2,600 nits. Looking at the display alone, the S24 Ultra is already better than the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which has only 460 ppi and peak brightness of 2,000 nits. In person, the S24 Ultra’s display also looks really great.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra also has one of the most impressive quad-camera systems. There’s a 200-megapixel main shooter, a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, a 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide camera. The iPhone 15 Pro Max is capable of his 5x optical zoom, but the S24 Ultra has an even higher resolution and dual telephoto lenses for more detailed close-up shots. Additionally, the 200MP main shooter is one of the best on the market.

The S24 Ultra has other benefits as well. Under the hood is the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy processor, which is specifically optimized for Galaxy devices. This means slightly overclocked processing speed and improved power efficiency. Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 also comes with 12GB RAM, so the performance is lightning-fast and never misses a beat.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra’s 5,000mAh battery easily lasts at least a day and a half with moderate to heavy usage. It also charges at 45W wired speed and 15W wireless speed. It also has 4.5W reverse wireless charging capability, which the iPhone 15 Pro Max doesn’t have.

Another big advantage of the Galaxy S24 Ultra is the S Pen integration, which comes in handy for navigating your device, sketching, and jotting down notes. It can also be used as a remote control, making it very convenient for remote shutter buttons, etc. There’s nothing like the iPhone 15 Pro Max? S Pen.

While it’s not for everyone, Samsung’s Galaxy AI capabilities are a big selling point for the S24 lineup. These features include useful features like live translation, Circle to Search, and even generative photo editing tools. Other features, like chat assist, aren’t as useful, but the latest AI-powered tools make your life easier.

You’ll be paying a pretty penny for the Galaxy S24 Ultra ($1,300 to be exact), but if you don’t mind dipping your toe into the Android world, it’s a great addition to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. This is a replacement product.

If you want something different from the very mainstream Apple iPhone or Samsung Galaxy devices, OnePlus has some great options at lower prices. This includes the company’s latest release, OnePlus 12.

OnePlus 12 features a gorgeous 6.8-inch LTPO AMOLED display with 510 ppi density and 120 Hz dynamic refresh rate. The edges of the display are curved to provide a more immersive experience. Of course, the curved edges mean that accidental touches and movements can occur, but it just takes some getting used to.

OnePlus makes phones with great specs, and the OnePlus 12 is no exception. Inside, you’ll find a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and either 12GB or 16GB RAM depending on the storage option you choose. This is definitely more than the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s 8GB RAM, so the OnePlus 12 clearly has better performance.

If you want a good smartphone camera, the OnePlus 12 has it too. It has a 50MP main camera, a 64MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 48MP ultrawide camera. The selfie camera is also 32MP, which is better than most competitors. Additionally, OnePlus 12 has Hasselblad Color Tuning to improve the overall color profile and white balance of photos for realistic results.

Finally, the OnePlus 12 has incredible stamina when it comes to battery life. The 5,400mAh battery easily lasts about 2 days, and also supports 80W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging. The best part? You can get all this for a starting price of $800. That’s $400 cheaper than the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

google pixel 8 pro

If you want a clean, simple, stock Android smartphone without any extra UI tweaks, you should consider the Google Pixel 8 Pro.

Pixel devices give you a pure Android experience similar to iOS. Pixel 8 Pro uses Google’s custom Tensor G3 chip to deliver better performance and power efficiency than previous Pixels. Previous generations of Tensor chips had overheating issues, but the G3 significantly reduces that issue. Plus, it comes with 12GB RAM, so you can use it with anything you want.

The Pixel 8 Pro also has great camera hardware. It features a 50MP main camera, a 48MP ultra-wide camera, and his 48MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom capability. For selfies, it has a 10.5MP front-facing camera. It may not be as good as the S24 Ultra, but the Pixel 8 Pro is great at taking realistic, true-to-life photos. It’s hard to take bad photos with a Pixel device, and that applies to the Pixel 8 Pro as well.

Pixel 8 Pro is also a great smartphone with AI smarts. Want to remove unnecessary objects or move people around in your images? Magic Editor has you covered. Need to call your cable company and speak to a customer service representative? Pixel 8 Pro can make the call for you and stay in line until someone speaks.

Google launched the Pixel 8 Pro last October for $999, but it’s often been discounted further these days, making it a great option if you want a wallet-friendly flagship phone.

iPhone15 pro

The iPhone 15 Pro Max is a great phone, and some people use Apple devices all the time, but its size is a little… unwieldy. If so, why not consider the smaller iPhone 15 Pro?

iPhone 15 Pro offers almost the same features as iPhone 15 Pro Max. It features a 120Hz ProMotion always-on display, A17 Pro chip, 8GB RAM, an action button, and USB-C charging. It also has a triple-lens camera system so you can take great photos and videos.

The main difference is that the iPhone 15 Pro has a much more manageable 6.1-inch display, making it easier to use with one hand. The iPhone 15 Pro also doesn’t have the Pro Max model’s new tetraprism telephoto lens, so it still only has 3x optical zoom instead of 5x. Also, since the iPhone 15 Pro is more compact, it has a smaller battery and won’t last as long as the Pro Max. But if you have a good battery pack, you’ll definitely be able to cope.

There are plenty of iPhone 15 Pro Max alternatives in the world of Android smartphones, but if you want an iPhone, try the regular iPhone 15 Pro. You get most of the same features as the 15 Pro Max, making it easier to use and saving you money in the process. What’s not to like about that?

iPhone15 plus

Andy Boxall / Digital Trends

If you really want a bigger iPhone like the iPhone 15 Pro Max, but want to save money, consider the iPhone 15 Plus instead.

A larger display size of 6.7 inches is also available on the iPhone 15 Plus, but the Plus model is a regular OLED display that is limited to a 60Hz refresh rate and is not always on. Still, you can get big screen assets, and sometimes that’s what really matters. The iPhone 15 Plus also has a large battery that will last you all day and then a little.

Apple has significantly enhanced its regular iPhone 15 models this year with a Dynamic Island, 48MP main camera, and USB-C charging capabilities. The iPhone 15 Plus doesn’t have a telephoto lens, but it does have an excellent dual camera system. It only has the A16 Bionic chip that debuted in the iPhone 14 Pro, but it’s still a very fast and powerful chip that should be more than enough to handle everyday tasks.

The iPhone 15 Plus doesn’t have a titanium design like the iPhone 15 Pro Max, but Apple has changed the back glass. Apple has switched to a new brushed matte glass finish that is infused with color, rather than a glossy one. It’s easier to hold, it doesn’t attract as many fingerprints, and it looks much better overall. There are many calm colors, but pink is very nice.

But the best part is that the iPhone 15 Plus starts at just $899.it is many More affordable than the iPhone 15 Pro Max, you’ll save hundreds of dollars while getting all the benefits of a larger display, longer battery life, 48MP camera, dynamic island, iOS 17, and USB-C charging.
