Apple iPhone is one of the safest smartphones on the market, and that’s because of security and Privacy features of iOS operating system I’ll make an offer. Recently, Apple released his iOS 17.3 update, bringing several new features including the much-awaited feature. Stolen device protection. Apart from this, iOS 17 also includes various privacy and security features that users can use to further improve the security and privacy of their devices.
We’ve put together 5 must-have features for every iPhone user.
Stolen device protection
Stolen Device Protection was rolled out last week in the iOS 17.3 update. This feature is aimed at combating the surge in iPhone theft. This feature requires Face ID or Touch ID authentication without passcode fallback before users can change important security settings. This feature introduces a one-hour security delay to prevent unauthorized changes.

  • To enable stolen device protection, follow these steps:
  • Open the Settings app on an iPhone running iOS 17.3 or later.
  • Scroll down to Face ID & Passcode (or Touch ID & Passcode).
  • Under “Stolen device protection,” tap “Turn protection on.”

Protect private tabs in Safari using Face ID
iOS 17 introduces a new security feature in Safari that allows users to lock private tabs with Face ID. Once this feature is enabled, users will have to authenticate with Face ID to access private tabs. This prevents unauthorized access and ensures privacy and security. This feature is also available on macOS Sonoma and requires Face ID authentication every time you close Safari or lock your iPhone.
Here’s how to use the feature

  • Open the Settings app on your iPhone running any version of iOS 17.
  • Scroll down to “Safari”.
  • Make sure “Require Face ID to unlock private browsing” is turned on.

Automatic check-in text in messages
Messages in the iOS 17 update has a new feature called “Check-ins.” This feature allows users to automatically notify selected contacts when they arrive at their destination. Additionally, it alerts your contacts if your progress stalls and shares important information such as your exact location, battery level, and cell service status. Both users must be using iOS 17 for this feature to work.
Here are the steps to enable it:

  • Open the Messages app in iOS 17 developer beta.
  • Select the person you want to send a check-in to and click “+” in the bottom left.
  • Tap More to see more options.
  • Then tap Check In.
  • Follow the settings page to set the destination and other options.

Tracking prevention improvements
To combat online trackers, iOS 17 includes enhanced anti-tracking mechanisms in Safari, Mail, and Messages. The system can automatically detect and remove tracking parameters from URLs in real-time. Users can enable this feature for all browsing or just private browsing in Safari’s advanced settings.
procedure:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Scroll down and tap Safari.
  • Select the last option titled “Advanced”.
  • Tap “Advanced Tracking and Fingerprint Protection.”
  • Select your desired option (All Browsing or Private Browsing Only).

Automatically remove verification code
Apple also introduced a new feature in Messages that automatically deletes verification codes, OTPs, and emails after using Autofill. This will prevent your OTP and verification code from falling into the wrong hands.
Steps to enable

  • Open the Settings app and go to Passwords.
  • Tap Password Options.
  • Turn on Automatically clean up.
