$3 app shoots better quality spatial video than iPhone camera app

A $3 third-party app can now record spatial video on iPhone 15 Pro models at a higher resolution than Apple’s own camera app.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro Spatial Video Capture Lifestyle
Thanks to the first update discovered VR upload, Spatialify now lets you record spatial video with HDR at 1080p at 60fps or 4K at 30fps. By comparison, Apple’s native camera app is limited to recording spatial video at 1080p at 30fps.

Shortly after Apple’s Vision Pro headset launched in the US in February, Apple released iOS 17.2, introducing a new spatial video recording format to iPhone 15 Pro models.

When viewed on an iPhone, spatial video appears as a regular video, but when viewed on Vision Pro, it provides an almost three-dimensional, immersive viewing experience.

Combining advanced computational video recording techniques with HEVC compression, spatial video shot at 1080p at 30fps consumes approximately 130 MB of storage space for one minute of video. So keep in mind that if you shoot using Spatialify’s high-resolution option, you’ll end up using quite a bit more storage. .

Spatialify first made headlines in November, before the launch of Apple Vision Pro, when the TestFlight version of the app became available. With this, iPhone 15 Pro users running iOS 17.2 beta can now record spatial videos in a format that can be played on Meta Quest 3 and other his 3D headsets and TVs.

Spatialify can be downloaded from the App Store. The app costs $3 and requires an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max to capture spatial videos.
